Human immunodeficiency virus infection / acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(HIV/AIDS) is a disease of the human immune system caused by infection with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). As the illness progresses, it interferes more and more with the immune system, making the person much more likely to get infections, including opportunistic infections and tumours that do not usually affect people who have working immune systems.
In the next few years the number of people in need of treatment for HIV/AIDS is expected to grow alarmingly. Nearly all the patients belong to the underdeveloped countries for which cost effective drugs produced at Shilpa Medicare would be a valuable relief. Shilpa Medicare aims to contribute towards the goal of wider access to HIV treatment, and achievement of the Millennium Development goals set by UNAIDS by 2015.
We are also partnering with Innovators and the Medicines Patent Pool Foundation to make the generic versions of ARV medicines widely available. For more information on Shilpa‘s pipeline/products in field of AntiRetroVirals, visit our ARV product list
